Estate Sale Quilt Top

A quilt top I got at an estate sale a while back. It is all hand-stitched, and amazingly square and flat (though I'm worried about the quality of some of the fabrics -- I'll just have to wash carefully). I'm thinking about how to quilt it. Straight lines in a plaid pattern, maybe?

*gasp* That's wonderful!!!! I love finding handmade quilts at thrift stores and estate sales. Feel like I'm rescuing them, lol. Yes, simple quilting would be good.

I think I would quilt it before washing it unless there are some major stains (then I might spot wash) as the quilting will help it hold up to the washing as well as the backing will help it hold up too.

What a score! I agree about simple. I have a quilt top my Aunt Bertha made very similar to this and as much as I'd like to tackle something like Baptist fans, I'm probably going to go for straight lines.
