Finished!: Child's Placket Neck Sweater

I finished something!

Otto - Sweater Close

I started Otto's placket-neck sweater last winter, before he was born, and it was all finished except for that pesky end-weaving. I made the 6-9 month size thinking it would fit him this winter. Last week realized I better finish it and at least get a picture before he grows out of it.

Otto's Sweater

I like how it turned out -- he looks professorial in it. Like he frequents the library and smokes pipes in front of the fireplace. There is still room to grow into it so it may be used in cool weather after all. For now he only wants to suck on the sleeves.

Otto - Eating His Sweater

Pattern: Child's Placket Neck Sweater from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts (corrected pattern pdf here)
Yarn: Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Roasted Coffee
Alterations: None. I haven't put the buttons in, don't know if I will or not.

i want to try that pattern for baby #2 at some point but first i've got to finish the hooded sweater that I'm making for my almost 2 year old.
i love your description of how he looks in it- quite distinguished especially in that second photo.
The color is great too

Nice knitting, Mama. I've made this pattern a few times, but it never occurred to me to leave out the buttons. I think it looks fantastic that way. Or maybe it's just your adorable Otto that's making it look fantastic. ;)

OK, he looks way too cute for words. Nice job, very nice! I think I need to find some chubby baby cheeks to go kiss now...how cute!

That's a great looking sweater! I really wish I could knit, but it's something I haven't mastered yet -or really tried ;-)

instead of buttons, you could use a leather lace. Very "60s literature professor." I love the color you chose.

omg - he looks so incredible and sophisticated and cute! I have a new nephew who is supposed to make his appearance out of the womb today - this would be a great welcome gift!

Okay, this is super cute -- I particularly like the action shots of Otto trying to cram various parts of the sweater into his face/mouth. Four stars!
