Hey I Got You Something at the Estate Sale!

At an estate sale this morning I got a huge box of vintage patterns for $5 -- I left without them but then envisioned them going in the dumpster and their former owner-seamstress thinking that was sad. So I spun around on my heels and went back. I thought you might want them. The women's patterns are, sigh, one size too small for me (especially in my current state) -- size 16 (pattern size), which means you should have about a 36-38" bust, 28-30" waist, and 38-40" hips. There are about 75-80 of them, ranging from the 50s through the 70s. I photographed the best ones. The ones you don't like? Use the tissue paper for gift wrapping! Most if not all the patterns are uncut.

And a bonus smocked pillow pattern to go with the ladies' lot:

The men's patterns are pretty fly. There are duplicates in different sizes of some of them. The shirt/jacket sizes are chest size 36-40 and those pants are size 32. And who could resist a men's cotton brief pattern? Those are sizes 38-44.

I am breaking the women's and men's patterns into two separate packages, unless you want them both. Maybe a swap for a couple yards' worth of cute fabric? Or whatever you propose. Please click on the photos to go to Flickr and see closer-up. If no takers, I'll put them on eBay.

I'd love the ladies and that is my size. Let me know if they are still available

Me three! If you need a third fallback person, that is. I've got to have something worth swapping around here.

Send me that pattern for men's underwear. Gawd, can you imagine? "I think I'm going to make my husband some briefs this weekend." Weeeee!

irregardless of the fact that my husband wears boxers, the guy on the briefs pattern is such a FOX! and I don't mean in a 21st century way, but in that 70s-mustache-tough-guy way. like magnum p.i. damn foxy!

If someone else doesn't mind, I'd LOVE the pillow pattern. Actually , I'd like all of the ladies patterns but it looks like you already have lots of takers. What a great find! Not too many estate sales in the NE in the winter - another reason to look forward to Springtime.

I have a bunch of old patterns from an estate sale too. I think I am going to use the pictures for decoupage, maybe on a sewing box or something. Or make iron-on images of them for a sewing machine cover. Those sketches are so great. The guy in his underwear is just screaming to go on a birthday card or something. He is really kind of creepy with that mustache.

Estate finds like these make me want to become better at sewing. I love the pillow pattern.

I'm in love with the pillow pattern as well but see that Julie has already asked for it. That's what I get for not staying up-to-date on my blog reading! Julie, any way I could pay for a copy of the pattern? The pillows remind me of the ones that I saw on my grandmother's couch. **sigh** Memories...

I'd love some of the older mens' ones - what could I swap for them???? I can't see the photos for some reason but that's not stopping me :)

I am so sad because it must be too late already:(

Anyways, I guess you wouldn't want to mail anything to the UK.....but if you have anything that goes spare; I would really love it; anything at all, really:)

16 is my clothe size; I love (and mostly try to wear) vintage/retro looking clothes and I'm in a dire need of new clothes -specially pants as my last pair have worn out. At the moment I'm not going to buy new clothes because:
1. I'm a student
2. I'm doing the wardrobe refashion challenge
3. I try to use old curtains/bed linen to make new clothes

Could swap yarn/buttons/beads or make something in exchange...

Sorry for all the begging; I'm not normally like that; it's a bit embarrassing.

I would love whatever is left? How do we arrange?

My mother had many of these same patterns that she sewed up for herself. They were pretty stylish as is my mom. Caftans were so hot then along with the crocheted foot jewelery, which have made a comeback.
