Hop, Skip, and a Jump

Hop, Skip, and a Jump Blocks in Progress

I was feeling a little gun-shy about quilting the Pie in the Sky quilt, so the natural thing to do is start another top, right? And another from the Denyse Schmidt book at that. The quilt in the book is 12 blocks big, mine will be 30 blocks. The pink/green/black/white color scheme was lifted wholesale from Hillary's inspiration that she got from a piece of fabric I sent her -- does that make sense? And it uses that fabric and some prints that she sent me.

Some other color schemes (is there a difference between "color scheme" and "colorway"?) that are sure to come into play in future projects:

Orange, red, and gray (with a hint of bright aqua blue) a la Jane's log cabin quilt

Orange, aqua, and brown (spotted on a stranger's knit shirt recently)

Chartreuse with grass green, avocado, and other darker greens (inspired by new growth in spring -- long overdue inspiration, that is)

Diamonds
Light blue, red, white, and gray

What color schemes, ways, combinations, whatever, have been on your mind recently?

I've got a thing going for red, red, red and more red. I want to do a 'Bunch of Squares' in red tones on a grey background with maybe one other colour (yellow, orange, cool green?) thrown in, but I need to play around to work out what I want. Definitely in a red phase ...

I've been feeling really green lately, thanks for asking. Green and what, I don't know. I have a new-found liking for a green & orange quilt I pieced 2 years ago and only just started quilting. I really didn't like it once it was all put together, but everyone that sees it has made positive comments. I wonder if it's the season? So yes, green is lingering from Spring, and for the summer, perhaps I'll feel more pink & red? let's see if anything comes from that color inspiration.
I really love your stripe blocks, btw.

great post. arlo has this striped onesie that everytime i put it on her i have the sudden urge to make the plainspoken quilt. it has aqua, olive green, cream, oragne, pale pink, bright pink, and a berry-ish color. sounds awful, but amazingly it works. and man do i want a quilt that looks like that...

My color schemes right now are 1) chocolate brown/white/beige/green anywhere from granny smith apple to emerald. 2) pale blue, deeper blue, and forest green, like a sky and lake with evergreen trees. And 3) mint green and burgundy, for baby things.

If only I had time to make all these pretty things in my head(sigh).
