Welcome Homie, Janome!

My sewing machine came home today! All City Sewing Machine Service RULES. It's like having a new machine. The sqeaking and laboring evolved so gradually that I hadn't even realized what bad shape it was in. And for some reason I had a psychological block against taking it in for a tune-up, I think because of this old thread on Sew Wrong (too bad the comments don't work anymore) ... basically I had it lodged in my memory that tuneups are a ripoff, but I was so spectacularly wrong. Now, on to finishing my Block Swap blocks (turns out the deadline was extended anyway) and binding my Day at the Beach quilt. Cue Al Hirt's Java and have a happy dance!

I'm so glad it worked out for you! I had my machine tuned up a while ago after many, many years of faithful service and it was well worth it. Happy sewing!

I used a 1965 Singer for many years, before upgrading to the Bernina Aurora, and tuneups were essential. I don't know if the Aurora "really" needs annual checkups, but for me it's a small price to pay to make sure I don't end up in a jam where I really need to get something finished but my machine is acting up.

i can imagine how happy you must be to have yours back. i'm quite sure my machine needs a tune-up, but i think, like you, i don't think it will make that much of a difference. however, reading about your janome's transformation, i think i may need to take mine in.
