Loodles!

Hello, I am back from not having anything to say for the past week. Actually I was in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for a conference. Let me tell you that speech pathologists are a weird bunch and I sometimes worry about my destiny. Just don't get between them and a free slice of cake (which might be to blame for all the mom-butt going on) or a free promotional tote bag (which, when slung over your arm, makes you look like you have mom-butt even if you don't).
On my way out I took a little side trip to IKEA in Frisco and went to Carrollton to hit up a quilt store, which was a bust. However the town square also had a really nice antiques mall where I got the fabric above. The tag said "poodles fabric" but I would think those guys are lions. Someone else voted poodles too so let's just compromise and call them loodles. There was a booth in there with a dizzying collection of vintage buttons, all carded and sorted by color and composition -- pricey but not outrageous -- unfortunately I was too hungry to concentrate and had to leave to meet someone, so no scores on that front. But if you ever find yourself in the north Dallas suburbs, it's worth the trip.

Oh, loodles, absolutely loodles! Look how great that fabric matches your background!

Hmm. Well, if the palm trees were in the African jungle someplace, then I suppose they would be lions. But those palm trees could also be in Beverly Hills, I suppose, making poodles equally plausible. Loodles is a good compromise.

I'm with you, thy're lions for sure - they don't have fluffy butts! But loodles is a great name!

Thanks for a lovely mom butt laugh. I have often wondered over that phenomena, now I've got a name for it!

I had to laugh at the speech-pathologist comment. I am an audiologist, so I know the type well, seeing as how I nearly was one, too! However, if you think speech-pathologists are bad, you should look at audiologists - what a bunch of nerds! (myself included!)
Love the loodles!

I tried to email you regularly, but it keeps bouncing back. But anyway -- I'm in for the MQA -Zipper quilt. Finally collected some fabrics that will work. Looking forward to it!!

I was in that antique mall and that exact booth last week! It's one of my hot spots. In fact, I posted yesterday about the vintage fabric I found when I was in the same store.

Dang! I wish I could have told you to go a little north and east to McKinney. Great antique digging on the downtown square and great quilt shop too!

I've been reading your blog for a while and enjoy it since I am in Austin also. My aunt is a speeth therapist for the Richardson school district in Dallas, and lives in Carrolton. She was at the conference last week too. Small world.

i commented on one of your posts at diorama some time ago, only i can't find the post anymore. it had to do with fabrics being copyrighted and folks not being allowed to use fabrics to create items for sale. does that sound familiar?
along similar lines, i thought you might want to read a story from the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/30/fashion/thursdaystyles/30copy.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
it's called "o.k., knockoffs, this is war." it described how fashion designers want copyright protection for their designs so that low-end
companies/designers can't manufacture/sell a derivitive product.
