Fabric Friday: Tammis Keefe

Who Belongs to Whom?
My mom got me the completely awesome book Handkerchiefs: A Collector's Guide for my birthday. The most prolific and well-known designer in the handkerchief world appears to be Tammis Keefe. I couldn't find out much about her, except that she died too young, at age 40. She also designed other linens and maybe some fabric too. She sometimes went under the pseudonym Peg Thomas, but I don't know why -- maybe to flout some contractual obligations.

Leopards in the Grass - notice the mouthful of grass, or are they moustaches?

Cats

Now that's a Christmas color scheme I can get behind.

I love the colors! The brown and green in "Leopards in the grass" are my favorites. Looks like a great book. Happy belated Birthday!

I have the red and lime green thing going for Christmas, but I never thought to add pink! I love your Friday Fabric spotlights!

Wow, I love them all! Those are my kind of Christmas colors too :) Thanks so much for sharing, I think I'll have to add this book to my wish list. And hey, Happy Belated Birthday!!!

What a lovely lot of kerchiefs. They are so covetable. Thanks for the book link, I might be tempted myself.

Gorgeous! Another book for my wish list, too! Mimi Kirchner (Doll) did a post about about Tammis Keefe last week, with all different pix. She must be in the air.

I have a few old handkerchiefs (maybe about 30 or so) but none like these! These are great with the animals and characters. Mine are mostly florals. I do love them, but these are fun!

I read in a book that she was born in 1913, so her death was at age 47 not 40, still way too soon. The 1920 birthdate idea started from a website, but the book was a scholarly work about women designers. Keefe/Thomas' work was the best!
