Fry-Up! Along
When I saw the Sheep in the City was hosting a Fry-Up Knitalong, I said, "It is time to join my first knitalong."
I've had the yarn for a while, and went to cast on this weekend. But looking over the pattern, but stopped short because the pattern appears to be very flawed. If my calculations are correct, the cast-on edge of the "plate" and hat base is 22" wide if you knit at the called-for gauge. Which means the piece will be even wider as you increase.
I wrote to Libby of Creazativity for advice, since she is way ahead of the curve and has made what may be the only living Fryup in creation. She was cool enough to respond with the following recommends:
- Knitting the purse/plate/hat as a flat circle on dpns/circulars instead of a back-and-forth tortured octagon. (Here's one way to do it, but I guess you'd need to do M1 increases instead of YOs so there aren't holes)
- Do some nice thick i-cording for the strap instead of the two-strand twisted deal in the pattern.
- Line your bag with fabric for added stability.
And of course you can make only the breakfast items that are appropriate to your cultural background.
Thanks Miss Libby!
